Woodland
I can most commonly be found wandering the beautiful woodlands of Nottinghamshire and The Peak District camera in hand, searching for those elusive forest compositions that never quite reveal themselves easily. One of my favourite places — and a bit of a muse — is Bestwood Country Park. Its mix of ancient woodland, shifting light, and peaceful corners keeps drawing me back time and time again.
Trying to make sense of tangled undergrowth, twisting trees, and constantly changing light can be challenging, but that’s part of the fun. Woodland photography here in Nottinghamshire offers moments of pure calm and creativity — at its best, it’s meditative and a great way to get away from the overload of modern life; at its worst, it’s still a lovely walk in the woods.
Many of these images can be found in my book Shifting Light, Shifting Seasons. Prints are also available in a variety of sizes.
